This week myself and The Bruce talk about the epic PHR fleet deck, yes it is epic. The Duncan Levi gets mocked for having a battle report and not showing to talk about it. Then we talk about bad news, but it's ok we follow up with some good news. So sit back relax and enjoy this cast.
"You're some kind of big fat smart bug, aren't you?" ~Starship Troopers
Captian Sock, Bruce, The Duncan Levi and I talk about the Scourge fleet deck, yes I still say fleet deck. Captin Socks also gets to go to Gencon, and we all hate him for it. We also talk about the kickstarter update, and the Bruce broke his air brush. Enjoy the audio pleasure.
Now we have very good reason's to have an admiral in the fleet.
Damion and I finally start our reviews of the Fleet Decks, starting with the UCM, and there is some great stuff in the deck. But instead of talking about it here, you have to play the transmission from our databanks.
As we finish up book content the Duncan Levi and Bruce chat with me about Corvettes and Strike Carriers, all of which seem good since each faction only has one. There was also alot of tourneys that happened the weekend of recording. And AWESOME battle report from Oleksiy Kirsenko
Every ship has a use in a fleet, if you figure out the light cruisers, please email us and let us know....
The week myself, Damion, Jason the Bruce, and fresh off unpacking arrest Levi, talk about light cruisers. And light cruisers are like light beer, there are a couple that are good, but most aren't worth the time. We do cover the fact the the Scourge light cruisers are aces in a list, and how it would be shocking to find the others in a list. Damion shares a batter report, and confirms what I have been saying about the Shaltari.
The Cruisers that aren't Cruisers but are Crusiers...
Peter and I talk about some ships that are technically Cruisers, but fill rolls that only these ships can fill, carriers and bulk landers. Oh and a silly ship called a mother ship. And of course we have some pretty pics from Salute, big shout out to Beast of War for letting us use the pictures they took.
These are the ships that are there to get the work done, some are like me and get a lot done, some are like Jason the Bruce and only take up space.
Just kidding Jason you are useful unlike some of the Cruisers we talk about this episode. Every faction has a workhorse, and every faction has the creepy uncle that only shows up for the holidays. If you don't get it, you don't have any uncles. Damion is also pretty salty about the effectiveness of PHR shooting. And Damion meant to say Alan, not Adam...
The Experimental Rules From Hawk Have Been Made Public, Reactions Are Positive...
Damion, Jason, and myself finally talk about the experimental rules that Hawk and the Talons have been working on in the backroom. We like them for the most part, hell even I agree with the nerfs to the shaltnangains.
Heavy Crusier's don't Care, Heavy Crusier's don't give a...
Myself, Peter, and eventually Jason the Bruce give our two cents on the Heavy cruisers in the game, and for the most part they are all good. We also talk about Christoph Schult's UCM painting tutorial, and Robert Arciszewski sent in another Battle Report, and we cover some custom scenarios from CANCON and The First DutchDropfleet Tournament.
If the Battleships are King, Battlecruisers are the Crown Prince.
We're back, and talking about battlecruisers, but due to real life it is just myself and Damion (Lysenis). These right now kickstarter exclusive ships can pack a punch and in this episode we tell you our opinion of much they pack. Damion (Lysenis) also gives you what information he can about the changes coming to the game.
So on a fine Saturday in the past, The Post Human Republic moved into to orbit where they engaged an unsuspecting Shaltari fleet. This game was played with Scenario 1: Take and Hold at 1250 points using the Rapid Response approach type.
This is my first attempt at a video battle report, myself and Will decide on the spur of the moment to record it. I am fairly happy with how it turned out both audio and video quality wise. Hopefully this will be the first of many.
Sooner than expected, we got an errata to the rules and some questions answered. Due to real life and some scheduling conflicts, it only myself and Jason the Bruce on this podcast, but that didn't stop us as we covered the errata and the questions that got answered. We cover CANCON some and we also talk about Alex Barton's excellent troop and tank tokens he made.
Is the Shaltari Diamond-class Battleship overpowered?
So I played my first game at 1750 points, using Shaltari. This was also my first time playing with a battleship. For this game I opted to use the Diamond. The other primary fire support for this was was an Onyx, Amber, Obsidian, Jet, and six Amethyst frigates. With a very similar profile to the Obsidian with three particle lances, but instead of having to go weapons free to fire three shots, the Diamond is able to do this on a standard order.
As the Kings of Space glide in, the mere mortal trembles
Here we are! Episode 6. We are starting to do reviews of the factions now but we are going it a bit differently. We are going by ship type and reviewing ALL of the ships of those types! In this episode we discuss the 9 Battleships in the game.
It is time for the missions! In this episode we will check up on some missions and discuss the rules behind them as they have been explained to us by HawkDave and to our members from there. Then we hit up on the missions themselves and even do some basic strategy.
Hello THLZ fans! It is I, Levi, and my battle-buddy, Jason A, from The HotLZ Podcast! Today we bring you a written battle report of my first 1500 point game against Jason’s PHR. Read on and enjoy!
Big shout out to Ian Gilbraith at WargamingMats for supplying the vinyl mat we used. It is a fantastic product. Light weight, matte finished, and durable. The models do not slide around, the mat quickly lays flat (even when cold because it was in the trunk of a car for a while). Another good thing is for us US gamers, he can have them printed and shipped stateside, which means CRAZY CHEAP MATS THAT ARE REALLY HIGH QUALITY. Seriously though, check him out on Facebook, or go to his eBay store directly. He’s got a ton of designs in both 6x4, 4x4, and formats for a few other games. I received my mat within 3 days of it being shipped and I live in Kansas. I was a little hesitant about the vinyl material because I’ve never seen it before, but if you have seen the Chessex square grid mats that RPGs sometimes use, it’s the same material, but thicker. If you can’t afford (or don’t want to shell out the cash) for other mat materials, like mouse mat, then give this guy a look-see. It’s good stuff!
Disintegrator Banks Are A Better Return On Your Investment
Having played a few games now, all the way up to 2000 points, I have fallen in love with a group. No it is not my Amethyst spam, which I do love that group as well, it is my Vanguard group consisting of an Onyx, Amber, and two Topaz.
